RMNA 2025 Rules Clarifications

09-Apr-2025

As we are looking forward to the final assessment and the readiness of robots for RMNA, here are some RMNA-specific rules, clarifications and reminders.

  • General

    • It is the responsibility of teams to check all relevant responses from the Q&A

    • PPE (Closed-toed shoes, Safety Goggles) are required in Inspection, the Battlefield, and projectile unload

      • Crocs are open-toed shoes

  • Inspection

    • No visible laser pointers in use at RMNA competitions (S25)

    • When inspecting the robot initial size, your robot may be powered on or off, but you cannot hold/touch it.

    • RMNA will not perform the 200mm drop test on robots during inspection

    • Robots must be controlled in inspection via a remote controller (S17)

    • Inspection can and will fail your robot if it looks like it poses a safety hazard. Examples of this include exposed capacitors and poorly routed wire (See S31)

  • Competition Flow

    • Your team gets escorted from inspection to the field one time. If your team is not completely through inspection in time, you may choose to proceed with partials of your team or wait for the rest (at risk of missing your match).

    • You may not leave the staging area and return. Team members who were not escorted from inspection may not enter the staging area. (R6)

    • Captain’s and Vice Captain’s badges will be given instead of armbands.(R13)

    • Long sleeves will not be required for the projectile reloading operator (R24)

      • Safety glasses required

  • Recommendations

    • It is strongly recommended to install the 17mm Fluorescent Projectile Charger for presentation value of the competition

    • It is strongly recommended to display two school OR two team badges on either side of the robot. Please refer to “Paint Color” in the respective manual.
